Description
The orbicular batfish, also known as a orbilicate batfish is a narrow fish that lives in Indo-Pacific and Australian waters. Named ‘Orbicular’ for its narrow disc shaped body and ‘bat’ for its camouflage and yellow fin, giving the appearance of a bat silouette. It is though that larger predators do not eat Orbicular Batfish due to their bad taste.
Habitat
Found in coastal waters in the Indian and Pacific ocean, the bat fish is generally found in schools or duos, in depths of 15metres. They are often seen roaming shipwrecks.
Diet
Their diet generally consists of algae, small fish, and small invertebrates.
Appearance
Orbicular have a very narrow body.
