Description
The Oscellaris Clownfish, also known as the Common Clownfish is found in the Indo-Pacific region. The Oscellaris Clownfish has a recognisable orange and white striped pattern that runs vertically along its body, they can grow to a length of 8cm. These fish can often be seen swimming within a Sea Anemone, which it has a symbiotic relationship. The Clownfish is protected by the stinging tenticles of the Anemone, in return the Clownfish keep the Anemone clean and provides nutrients.
Habitat
The Oscellaris typically live in coral reefs in the Indo-Pacific region. They are found in anemone structures which provide protection from the stinging tentacles of the anemone, which fends off predators. The clownfish cleans the anemone and provides nutrients from its diet.
Diet
Common Clownfish diet consists of small vertebrate, plankton, and algae.
Appearance
The Common Clownfish has a distinctive orange and white appearance, with three distinctive white stripes running vertically down the body. They can reach a maximum length of 10cm.
